Surface Enhancement

Glass Bead Peening

Glass bead peening delivers a uniform, satin-smooth finish while inducing beneficial compressive residual stresses. Ideal for components where surface finish integrity is critical alongside fatigue improvement, glass media produces consistent dimple profiles without risk of ferrous contamination. Non-ferrous media eliminates contamination on stainless steel and titanium, making it suitable for thin-walled and delicate components.

Steel Shot Peening

Steel shot peening is the industry-standard cold-working process for maximising fatigue life in high-stress components. Controlled bombardment with spherical cast steel media induces deep compressive residual stress layers, dramatically improving resistance to fatigue failure, stress corrosion cracking, and fretting. Proven across landing gear, turbine discs, springs, and structural fasteners, with fatigue life improvements of 2–10X.

Ceramic Bead Peening

Ceramic bead peening combines the deep compressive stress benefits of steel shot with the surface finish quality of glass bead. Zirconia-based ceramic media delivers higher impact energy at finer sizes, producing excellent fatigue improvement on precision-ground and machined surfaces without degrading finish quality. Longer media life reduces process variability, making it the preferred choice for precision-machined components.

Abrasive Blasting

Dry Abrasive Blasting

Dry abrasive blasting propels media at high velocity using compressed air to remove scale, corrosion, coatings, and surface contaminants. With a range of media types and grit sizes available – aluminium oxide, steel grit, and more – dry blasting is fully adaptable, from aggressive material removal on heavy fabrications to controlled surface profiling ahead of coating application. Suitable for both ferrous and non-ferrous substrates.

Wet Abrasive Blasting

Wet abrasive blasting suspends media in water, eliminating airborne dust while delivering a finer, more uniform surface finish than dry methods. The water cushion reduces media embedment and substrate damage, making wet blasting the preferred choice for precision components, thin-walled parts, and applications where surface integrity is paramount. Ideal for pre-coating preparation and cosmetic finishing.

Surface Enhancement

Super Polishing

Super polishing achieves ultra-low surface roughness with Ra values in the sub-micron range, producing a mirror-like finish that significantly reduces friction, wear, and aerodynamic drag. This process is used on components where surface quality directly impacts performance – turbine blades, bearing surfaces, and high-speed rotating parts. The result is extended service life, improved sealing, and reduced energy losses across critical assemblies.
